The Piave Futura Exhibition Unveils University Campus Designs
From October 28th to November 13th, the San Gaetano – Altinate Cultural Center in Padua showcases the 10 projects from the international contest Piave Futura: Design Proposals for the University Campus in the Former Piave Barracks, inaugurated last Friday, September 27th, by the Padua Association of Architects, in partnership with the University and Municipality of Padua. The winning project, developed by Steam Srl – now Manens – and designed by Architect David Chipperfield, represents a significant step in transforming the former Piave Barracks into the University of Padua’s new Campus for Social and Economic Sciences.
The opening event was led by Roberto Righetto, President of the Order of Architects, and featured key institutional and academic speakers. Deputy Mayor Andrea Micalizzi highlighted the importance of involving citizens in the city’s regeneration process, while Carlo Pellegrino, Vice-Rector for Buildings, and Francesca da Porto, Vice-Rector for Sustainability, discussed how the project revives unused spaces and reinforces the University’s commitment to creating a sustainable campus integrated within the urban landscape.
Finally, Giorgio Finotti, CEO of Manens, introduced the project’s vision, emphasizing how architecture and engineering worked together to create a harmonious and dynamic connection between the city and the university.
The exhibition, which runs until November 13th, offers an opportunity to explore the future of Padua’s urban transformation and gain insight into the potential of this significant regeneration initiative and the future university campus.
