Redefining Pediatric Care: The New Santobono Hospital

Redefining Pediatric Care: The New Santobono Hospital

A groundbreaking vision for children’s healthcare is becoming a reality in Naples. The final design of the New Santobono Pediatric Hospital has been unveiled, marking a significant step toward a modern, patient-centered facility. The presentation, held at Palazzo Santa Lucia, brought together key institutional figures, including Campania Region President Vincenzo De Luca and Santobono-Pausilipon General Director Rodolfo Conenna, along with the design team led by architect Albert De Pineda of Pinearq and Professor Stefano Capolongo of the Politecnico di Milano.

Set to rise in Ponticelli, in the eastern part of Naples, the hospital will span 85,000 sqm and introduce a new paradigm in pediatric care. With 437 beds—including 60 for intensive and sub-intensive care and 78 for day hospital services—it will offer cutting-edge medical treatment in an environment designed for healing and comfort. The surgical block will feature 14 state-of-the-art operating rooms, including traditional and hybrid theaters.

The project prioritizes the well-being of young patients and their families, integrating nature, play, and technology into a holistic healing environment. Green spaces, urban gardens, and play areas will foster a soothing atmosphere, while telemedicine services will enhance accessibility, enabling remote consultations and monitoring to reduce unnecessary hospital stays.

We are proud to support this project with our expertise in building services engineering and sustainability, working alongside Pinearq, Proger, Inar Ingegneria Architettura, Arethusa, and Zigarella Srl.

More than just a hospital, the New Santobono will serve as a vital hub for the community, where healthcare, innovation, and urban renewal come together to redefine pediatric care in Naples and beyond.
