Groundbreaking ceremony of the extension of the passengers terminal in Venice Marco Polo Airport – second phase –

2018-05-31 The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony took place on Friday 25th May, attended by the Senate President, Maria Elisabetta Alberti Casellati, the Mayor of Venice, Luigi Brugnaro and the President of Save, Enrico Marchi. This new structure, which will be completed within 2020, represents the second phase of the whole extension, that will lead to the doubling of the existing terminal area.

With a surface of 3,500 sqm, added to the current 8,000 sqm, the new area will provide the terminal with large and comfortable new spaces.

The main elements of the project are:

  • extension of the Extra Schengen arrivals hall (ground floor),
  • extension of the Extra Schengen departures hall (first floor),
  • construction of a new tower,  added to the existing 6 towers. The new tower will be served by two new mobile fingers, connected to the terminal by a fixed jetty.

The total cost of the project, part of 2012-2021 Master Plan (total investments for about 850 million euros), is 28 million euros.

Manens-Tifs, after the design and site supervision activities carried out for the first phase, confirms its presence as Save’s partner developing the design of all the MEP systems also for this second phase.
