Ex Alumix area returns to be a place of production and innovation
Manens-Tifs, 11 years after the international tender, finally sees the realization of the project of the former Alumix of Bolzano (Chapman Taylor and Cleaa Claudio Lucchin Architetti Associati Project), which returns to be a production site for food industries and companies working in the sectors of automation, green and alpine technologies.
The project aims at increasing the competitiveness of the companies operating in these specific leading sectors of Sudtirol economy.
The companies are in fact connected to research centers that can help their development, sharing and transferring technologies and know-how.
The complex includes a new technology pole named NOI Techpark (“Nature of Innovation”): the name combines the peculiarity of keeping together public research centers, innovative companies and laboratories in a technology park fully integrated into the urban fabric and the social life of Bolzano.
The companies of the complex (about 60 at the moment) are supported by 6 important research centers and 20 laboratories for applied research, concerning 4 excellence areas: alpine technology, energy efficiency, food technology, Ict and automation.
The construction site started in march 2015, together with the ambitious project of the Province of Bolzano, supported by a public investment of over 100 million euros.
The project has led both to the creation of a new volume and to the renovation and refurbishment of the two buildings that once accommodated the electric transformers.
Manens-Tifs has designed all the MEP systems and given assistance during construction phases.
