“The Future of Healthcare”: innovation and sustainability at the heart of the discussion at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome
On March 25, the National Conference on the Future of Healthcare – Opportunities and Strategic Choices for Public Health took place at the Chamber of Deputies in Rome, organized by Marco Osnato, President of the Finance Committee. The event gathered government officials, healthcare experts, and industry leaders to explore strategies for strengthening Italy’s National Health Service.
Key discussions focused on integrating hospitals with local healthcare networks, enhancing workforce development, and leveraging advanced technologies to improve efficiency and patient care. Speakers included Minister of Health Orazio Schillaci, Undersecretary of Health Marcello Gemmato, and the Presidents of Lazio, Abruzzo, and Marche.
Eng. Mauro Strada contributed to the conversation by emphasizing four fundamental aspects of future hospital design: adaptability, patient-centred spaces, environmental responsibility, and energy efficiency. He illustrated these concepts with examples of smart hospitals, showing how AI-driven technologies can optimize clinical workflows and enable more precise, personalized treatments.
His intervention highlighted the need for a holistic approach, where innovation and sustainable design come together to create healthcare facilities that are both efficient and responsive to evolving needs. The conference provided a valuable platform to define concrete strategies for the future of healthcare in Italy.
