The masterplans for the redevelopment of the San Donà di Piave and Portogruaro hospitals were unveiled on Monday, in the presence of Veneto Region President Luca Zaia and the Management of the Regional Healthcare Department. These two projects are part of a broader regional strategy to modernise the healthcare infrastructure.
Manens S.p.A, leader of the design group with Studio Architetti Mar and F-Project, is rethinking these hospitals as more than healthcare facilities but as active parts of the city, generating social and environmental value.
The masterplans for both hospital facilities outline a three-phase redevelopment process. At the Portogruaro site, the first two phases will involve the demolition of the old east and west wings of the hospital and the construction of a new five-storey building. In the third phase, the emergency department and user waiting areas will be expanded, and a large parking lot will be created on the site of the former warehouses, which will be demolished.
At the San Donà di Piave Hospital, the plan includes the construction of a new four-storey building, the expansion of the surgical block, and finally, the demolition of the east wing and part of the west wing, which are gradually being phased out.
The vision is to create places of care that are welcoming, people-centred, and adaptable over time, with clear, functional layouts and strong connections to the urban context.
Innovation, sustainability and quality of experience are the guiding principles behind this work because the future of healthcare starts with better places to heal, work, and live.
