“Le Albere” is a project designed by Renzo Piano, part of the redevelopment of the former Michelin area in Trento: one of the most significant urban developments in northern Italy, covering an area of approximately 11 hectares. A portion of the buildings is designated for courtyard-style residences, which overlook internal gardens or tree-lined avenues with water channels.
The residential buildings range from four to five floors in height and contain approximately 300 apartments.
The residences are interspersed with green areas and waterways, a system of canals that runs through the entire area and ideally connects it with the river and the natural landscape.
The buildings have a unified horizontal impact, positioned on a scale similar to that of Trento’s historic center. They are located on the eastern side of the district, leaving the western part open for a new public park overlooking the Adige River.
The residences are equipped with: heating systems using radiant floor panels and cooling through fan coil units installed in the suspended ceilings of circulation areas; additionally, controlled mechanical ventilation is provided for air exchange in each residential unit. The internal electrical systems are connected to a home automation system for remote management. There are also provisions for computer and telephone services, TV reception, internal gas leak safety, and intruder alarms.
All buildings are equipped with photovoltaic panels on the roof, placed on structural elements that recall the Dolomite peaks surrounding Trento. These systems power the common services in each building.
