The INFN (National Institute for Nuclear Physics) is a public national research body under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, University, and Research. It is dedicated to studying the fundamental aspects of matter and the laws that govern them. It conducts both theoretical and experimental research in the fields of subnuclear, nuclear, and astroparticle physics.
The data center is divided into several rooms: the first two, primarily serving mechanical systems, cater to IT infrastructure, while the third room includes an area for electrical panels, a storage zone, and one for mechanical systems. The project involves the installation of all necessary systems for dissipating the heat generated by IT equipment and electrical components required for the proper operation of the Data Center.
Particular attention has been given to the potential for future expansions or modifications in the arrangement of IT equipment, as well as to maintenance operations for all components, ensuring that these tasks do not require shutting down any equipment.
A control and supervision system has also been designed for the electrical and mechanical systems. This system aims to automate and remotely manage all controls and commands, perform diagnostic tests, and allow for visualization of the system, enabling targeted interventions.
