The Italian Ministry of Environment and Energy Security (MASE) has initiated the Environmental Impact Assessment process for the 2035 Masterplan, which aims to transform the airport into a strategic infrastructure for the Apulia region.<\/h4><p>Currently, this airport is a key logistics hub for regional Civil Protection operations, supporting emergency response and public safety efforts. The new development plan sets an ambitious goal: increasing annual passenger traffic from 70.000 to 200.000 by 2035. To achieve this, the project includes upgrades, such as expanding the passenger terminal, refurbishing existing hangars and aircraft aprons, and installing a photovoltaic park. Additionally, the plan envisions the creation of an Innovation Center dedicated to environmental sustainability, territorial protection, and emergency management, complete with research labs, specialized equipment, and residential facilities for researchers and field operators.<\/p><p>Most of the interventions focus on improving energy efficiency and decarbonizing the infrastructure. The Environmental Impact Assessment has thoroughly examined the project\u2019s potential effects on air quality, water resources, soil conditions, ecosystems, noise pollution, and light emissions to balance expansion and sustainability while minimizing environmental impacts.<\/p><p>The study was produced by Manen\u2019s team of experts, coordinated by Engineer Alessandra Lisiero, in partnership with Iride for the Masterplan technical documentation.<br \/>Beyond infrastructure improvements, the redevelopment of Gino Lisa Airport represents a strategic opportunity for the region. Enhanced air connectivity could increase tourism and local economic growth, fostering more efficient and sustainable
